Costa Brava wedding music: venues, curfews and logistics

Costa Brava destination wedding at a Girona region masia with outdoor dinner tables and live band

The Costa Brava is the densest destination wedding market in Spain after Mallorca. We've played more than 30 weddings across the region in the last three years. Here's the honest vendor's breakdown that you won't get from a planner's brochure.

The venue tiers that matter. Tier one medieval castles and stone masias: Castell de Caramany, Castell de L'Empordà, Castell d'Emporda (different property, confusingly similar name), La Baronia. These are the venues where the night runs itself. Great acoustics, capable staff, music curfews pushed to 01:00.

Tier two: fincas and masias with beautiful grounds but music curfews at 23:30 to 00:00. Masia Cabellut, Mas Torroella, Can Ribas. These are a great fit if you're willing to front-load the timeline and either end early or move the after-party to a nearby bar.

Tier three: venues with strict residential neighbours. We won't name them here but there are about a dozen beautiful venues on the Costa Brava that look unbeatable in photos and collapse the music at 23:00. Always ask for the exact music curfew in writing before signing.

Logistics that catch couples out. Most Costa Brava venues are 40 to 80 minutes from Girona airport. Great for guests arriving by car, tough for vendors if the last ferry home runs before 02:00. Vendor overnight costs usually live on the couple's bill. Factor €150 to €300 per supplier for overnight accommodation if your venue is remote.

Power supply: most Costa Brava masias are built around converted farmhouses and the electrical setup is older than the venue's marketing suggests. A full PA plus catering equipment plus lights plus photo booth can trip the main breaker. Always ask for the venue's amp rating and have a backup generator on site for peak dancing.

The best Costa Brava months for a destination wedding are late May to mid-June, and mid-September to early October. July and August are hot, August weekends are fully booked 18 months out, and the region shuts down between late October and April. Plan around those windows.

If you're choosing between the Costa Brava, the Empordà and the Penedès for a Catalan destination wedding, our honest call: Empordà offers better weather consistency in September, Penedès is cheaper and underrated for food, Costa Brava has the aesthetic ceiling and the highest vendor quality. Pick by priority.
